Good Friday Cooking
Even if you don’t celebrate Easter, it’s become tradition for many people to abstain from meat on Good Friday. But with holidays come a lot of hungry mouths to feed, and finding something to satisfy everyone without the traditional protein choices can be quite difficult. Luckily, you’ll find a number of exciting meals in our cookbooks that will be appropriate for the day, and perfect for a celebration!
For an amazing lunchtime spread, try a combination of our vegetarian pasties, crispy roast vegetables with olive tapenade, chickpea patties and spinach and ricotta pastizzis (Every Occasion).
For some pre-winter warmers at dinner time, try our beetroot or roasted garlic and pumpkin risotto (Every Occasion), garlic mushrooms with creamy polenta (Every Occasion), or our broccoli and cauliflower (Low Carb) or sweet potato and chickpea soup (Quick Fix in the Thermomix).
Or, if you just want to use the day as a great excuse for a seafood extravaganza (like us), alyce alexandra has just the ticket. Try our Greek-style calamari, or smoked salmon blinis (Every Occasion); whip up a seared tuna salad or a spicy seafood soup (Low Carb); or indulge in a creamy tuna pasta bake or smoked trout burgers (Quick Fix in the Thermomix).
And finally, when it comes to chocolate, we think that there’s no reason to stop at Easter eggs. If you’re in need of some chocolate inspiration, look to our recipes for chocolate & pear puddings (Quick Fix in the Thermomix), chocolate figs with honey ice cream (Every Occasion), or for a healthier option, ‘indulge’ in our dairy free chocolate mousse (Low Carb) or our chocolate coated fruit skewers (Every Occasion).
No matter how you celebrate Easter, take it as an opportunity to get creative in the kitchen and spend quality time with family and friends around the dinner table.
