Using your alyce alexandra Food Warmer to Prove Bread Dough

Our stainless steel food warmers are fabulous for MANY reasons. One being to prove dough which can be a game changer in your baking timeline! A warm, even environment creates the perfect situation for dough to prove, however sometimes this can be hard to find (especially in the winter months!). On the flip side, proving dough in a hot environment meaning a really quick prove can be detrimental to your dough so we need to cool it down. Luckily, we can use our food warmers to combat both these problems.

Creating a warm environment for your dough with our food warmers

By preheating our food warmer with boiling water, you can quickly and effortlessly create a warm and stable environment for your dough, meaning a consistent prove no matter where you are by simply following the below steps:

  1. Using either the 2.2L or 4.7L food warmer, fill with boiling water and place lid on. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Remove water and dry.
  3. Lightly line with rice flour, semolina or oil.
  4. Place dough inside, taking note of where it fills up to in your food warmer so you can tell when it has reached the desired size stated in your recipe (eg doubled or tripled in size).
  5. Place lid on and let prove away. Easy!

Creating a cooler environment for your dough with our food warmers

By pre-cooling our food warmer with iced water, you can quickly and effortlessly create a more stable environment for your dough to prove in when the environment is hot, as this is never ideal for proving dough. This method drastically reduces the risk of overproving and can be used almost anywhere and everywhere (and means you don’t have to empty half your fridge to make your big bowl of dough fit!). Simply follow the below steps:

  1. Using either the 2.2L or 4.7L food warmer, fill with iced water and place lid on.
Easy!
