This isn’t a problem, however often the bread will tear in an undesirable spot which can ruin the aesthetic and even make slicing difficult. By giving your loaf a ‘slash’ before baking, we are telling the loaf exactly where we want it to crack or expand! Using a specifically designed dough lame we can do this easily and cleanly without dragging or catching on the dough and ruining our shaping. You can also use it to create the beautiful art you often see on top of loaves!
