how it's made

Our flavour blends are hand-made by Alyce and her mum in a commercial kitchen, in small batches: the same recipes and the same care as at home, just more of it. For Cracking Chilli, real hot sauce is worked right through the salt and slowly dried, then finished with crushed chilli, garlic and onion for a savoury chilli hit with a little crunch.

Where we can, we make sure it's organic. The garlic in Cracking Chilli Salt is organic, chosen because it's the right thing by your family's health, the farmers, the waterways and the bees.

How spicy is it?

Cracking Chilli Salt sits at about 4 out of 10 on the heat scale. It's chilli, so it has some warmth, but as chilli salts go Cracking Chilli is quite mild: it's made to enhance flavour, not to bring the heat.

How is it different from Flavour Bomb Salt?

Flavour Bomb is the all-rounder you can put on anything, and it simply enhances the flavours already there. Cracking Chilli brings its own strong chilli flavour, plus notes of onion and garlic, to really turbocharge the whole flavour experience.

When do I use it?

Use Cracking Chilli Salt whenever a recipe calls for salt, or as a finishing salt on the final dish. It's also a great one to keep on the table for family meals like a Mexican fiesta or a bowl of Asian noodles: the grown-ups who want a kick add it, the kids skip it, and the cook only makes one meal.

Is it vegan?

Yes, Cracking Chilli Salt is vegan.

Does it contain MSG?

No. We never use MSG in any of our products, including this blend. Just real ingredients, the same as you'd have in your pantry at home.

Is this gluten-free?

We don't use any gluten-containing ingredients in this blend. It's hand-made in a commercial kitchen that also handles gluten though, so we can't guarantee our blends are completely free from traces of it.

Does this blend contain sesame?

There's no sesame in this blend's ingredients. Some of our other products do contain sesame though, so we can't rule out cross-contact in the making and packing of it. If you have a sesame allergy, we're sorry to say we'd recommend against buying our salt blends.
