How to use:
1. Grease egg cups with oil or butter.
2. Insert the Four Egg Poacher inside the simmering basket.
3. Crack eggs into the cups.
4. Add 500g room-temperature water to the bowl.
5. Place the simmering basket inside the bowl.
6. Set time, temperature and speed to egg size: S 10 to 11 min, M 11 to 12 min, L 12 to 13 min, XL about 14 min, all at Varoma temperature / speed 1.
7. After poaching, lift out the basket with the spatula, then remove the insert using the finger grips.

How many eggs does it poach, and how long does it take?

The Four Egg Poacher poaches up to four eggs at once (or fewer), taking roughly 11 to 14 minutes at Varoma temperature and speed 1 depending on egg size.

Can I poach more than four eggs at once?

Yes. Use the Four Egg Poacher together with the Six Egg Poacher to poach 10 eggs in one go. One thing to know: the cooking time is not the same when you run both. The four eggs in the simmering basket get in the way of the steam, so the six in the Varoma need longer. Steam for 11 minutes at Varoma temperature and speed 1, lift the four out once they are done, bring the water back up to steaming temperature, then give the six a further 2 minutes, and another 2 after that if they need it.

You can also pair the Four Egg Poacher with the Silicone Steaming Mat for Varoma to cook an omelette alongside your poached eggs. These are two separate combinations, so you cannot run the Six Egg Poacher and the omelette on the steaming mat at the same time.

How do I know when my eggs are done?

Give the poacher a gentle wobble and look at the whites. If the white is set it will hold firm; if it is still moving, the eggs need a little longer. Do not poke the eggs with a spoon and never poke the yolk, because that breaks the integrity of the white, which makes the eggs take longer to cook and leaves them looking less pretty.
