A couple of years ago Vorwerk announced that, for safety, the TM6 Measuring Cup cannot be used when cooking at high temperatures, and that instead you should put your Thermomix steamer basket on top of the machine when cooking. Pretty impractical! The Splash Cap is our solution: a little gadget you place on your lid when cooking hot that catches all the splashes and keeps your kitchen clean, all while being completely safe with no risk of pressure build up. When you are done, run it through the dishwasher or quickly rinse it in the sink, much easier than washing your whole steamer basket. Even if you do not have a TM6 measuring cup and its safety issues, we love the Splash Cap because it is easier to clean than the MC, takes up less room in the dishwasher, and is handy to have on hand when we cannot find the MC (we have all been there). It also makes a handy lemon juicer and is perfect for pouring your oil over slowly when making mayonnaise from scratch.

Splash Cap or Clear MC, which do I use?
The Splash Cap and the Clear MC are interchangeable in that both let you cook safely above 95°C. Reach for the Splash Cap when you want a little reduction; reach for the Clear MC when you are mixing above speed 8 (the Splash Cap is not suitable above speed 8).
