If you’ve ever tried to do “ice cream in a cone” at home and ended up with either icy chunks or smoothie-bowl vibes, this one’s for you. In this new post, I’m sharing how you can turn frozen fruit (and even your favourite proper ice cream base) into that dreamy, creamy, swirlable soft serve using your Thermomix machine — plus the exact setup you’ll need and where to start with a super simple mango soft serve recipe. It’s such a fun little kitchen win, and you’re in total control of the ingredients.
If you’ve ever tried to do “ice cream in a cone” at home and ended up with either icy chunks or smoothie-bowl vibes… you’re not alone.
Soft serve is one of those nostalgic treats that feels like pure joy, but the commercial versions are often loaded with ingredients I’m not personally keen on relying on day-to-day — think heaps of sugar, stabilisers/gums, artificial flavours, and other additives designed to keep it perfectly soft and scoopable.
The good news? You can absolutely make soft serve at home using real ingredients — and yes, you can do it with your Thermomix machine.
In this post, I’m going to walk you through:
- The simple idea behind soft serve at home (and why texture is usually the hardest part)
- The tool that makes it properly “pipeable” (not just blended)
- A super simple place to start: healthy mango soft serve
- How to expand into basically any flavour once you’ve got a base you love
Why “soft serve at home” is usually tricky
Blending frozen fruit (or a frozen ice cream base) in the Thermomix bowl can work, but it often swings one of two ways:
- Under-processed: you get icy chunks
- Over-processed: you get something closer to a smoothie bowl
And neither of those is that satisfying soft serve swirl you’re dreaming about.
What you really want is a creamy, serveable texture that pipes neatly — so it looks like soft serve, feels like soft serve, and you can actually serve it in a cone.
The setup: soft serve attachment (and what you need to use it)
We’ve just launched our Soft-Serve Ice Cream Attachment for your Thermomix machine.
This attachment lets you pipe out smooth, creamy soft serve at home using:
- Frozen fruit
- Yoghurt cubes
- Sorbet bases
- Your favourite proper ice cream mix
Important: you need the WunderCentix Axis to use the soft-serve attachment.
Think of the Axis as the base unit — the piece that makes the magic happen. It’s also the investment part that allows you to turn your Thermomix machine into other motorised attachments too, like:
- A Cold-Pressed Juicer
- An electric Pasta Machine
- A Grain Flaker
- A Crinkle Cutter / slicer-shredder
Start here: healthy mango soft serve (free recipe)
Once you’ve got your soft serve attachment, start with my Healthy Mango Soft Serve — it’s simple, fresh and naturally sweet.
You can even sprinkle it with granola and serve it as breakfast (I mean… why not?).

The real game-changer: you’re not limited to “nice cream”
This is the part that gets me really excited.
The best part is you’re not limited to frozen fruit blends — you can run almost any ice cream mixture through the soft-serve maker for that perfect serveable texture.
Instead of trying to emulsify and smash everything around in the Thermomix bowl, you can feed your mix through the attachment and get that soft-serve style swirl.
If you’ve already got a favourite ice cream base you make every summer, you’re set.
Want flavour inspiration? start with Quick Fix in the Thermomix
If you want proper, tested flavour ideas, I’ve got you covered.
My go-to is Quick Fix in the Thermomix (Digital) — it has a stack of ice cream flavours you can absolutely turn into soft serve (think Turkish delight, green tea, white chocolate, cinnamon apple, chocolate mousse and more).
And once you’ve got your base… you can soft-serve it.
Quick recap (so you know exactly what to do next)

- Make sure you’ve also got the WunderCentix Axis (the base it connects to)
