How to Perfectly Poach Eggs in your Thermomix
Poach 1 to 10 eggs at a time · Thermomix or thermo cooker
In the Four Egg Poacher
Grease the egg containers with oil or butter. I like to use olive oil and a pastry brush.
Insert the Four Egg Poacher inside the TM steaming basket, then crack the eggs into the containers.
Add 500g room-temperature water to the TM bowl, then place the steaming basket inside the TM bowl.
Set time, temperature and speed according to egg size: Size S approx. 10 to 11 min / Varoma / speed 1; Size M approx. 11 to 12 min / Varoma / speed 1; Size L approx. 12 to 13 min / Varoma / speed 1; Size XL approx. 14 min / Varoma / speed 1.
After poaching, lift out the steaming basket using the TM spatula, then carefully remove the poaching insert using the finger grips. P.S. The same instructions and settings work for 1, 2, 3 or 4 eggs at a time.
In the Six Egg Poacher
Add 500g room-temperature water to the TM bowl. Place the TM lid and Varoma on top of the TM bowl, then insert the Six Egg Poacher into the Varoma.
Grease the egg containers with oil or butter (I like olive oil and a pastry brush), then crack the eggs into the containers.
Set time, temperature and speed according to egg size: Size S approx. 10 to 11 min / Varoma / speed 1; Size M approx. 11 to 12 min / Varoma / speed 1; Size L approx. 12 to 13 min / Varoma / speed 1; Size XL approx. 14 min / Varoma / speed 1.
After poaching, remove the Varoma lid and take out the Six Egg Poacher. The easiest way is to roll the egg out, rather than scooping it out. P.S. The same instructions and settings work for 1 to 6 eggs at a time.
The clean-up win
Easy as that. And your Thermomix bowl, steaming basket and Varoma are not dirty, they are just wet, so simply invert and let them dry, no need to wash, which is a serious win. Your Egg Poacher can then go in the dishwasher.
Want to poach 10 eggs at once? No problem. Put your Four Egg Poacher in the steaming basket, then place your Varoma on top and insert your Six Egg Poacher, the cooking time stays the same. And your Egg Poacher is not just perfect for poached eggs, why not try my Mini Omelette Eggs, the free recipe is here.
